good to know

Questions, answered.

Everything families ask, in plain language. If you cannot find what you are after, a Guide is one message away.

How it works

What exactly does Forever Places do?

We do the research and make the introductions. We find the right place, find out what is possible, and connect you with the trusted local people who carry it out. You stay in control of every decision.

What can you help me create?

A scattering in a meaningful place, a memorial bench or plaque, a fountain or garden feature, or a resting place in a cemetery or a homeland abroad. If you picture something else, tell us and a Guide will work out how to make it real.

Where in the world do you work?

Anywhere. A lot of what we do is helping families arrange something far from where they live, often in another country. Distance is the reason most people come to us.

How do I begin?

Start a conversation. Tell us who you are remembering and the kind of place you picture. The first conversation is free, with no obligation to go further.

Your Guide

Who is my Guide?

A real person who stays with you from the first conversation to the finished place. They do the digging, sort out the details you have not thought of, and make the introductions to the right people.

Will I deal with the same person throughout?

Yes. One Guide, start to finish, so you never have to explain it twice.

Can my whole family be involved?

Yes. Everyone you invite shares one space, sees the plan, and can have a say. No one has to shoulder it alone, and no one is left out.

The price

How much does it cost?

It depends on your budget. We charge one honest, flat fee for arranging your memorial, set to what you would like to spend and the work involved, then shown to you to approve before anything is paid. You pay the providers directly, at their own price. The figures on the packages page are a starting point, not a total.

Can you work to my budget?

Yes, and we prefer to. Budgets vary enormously, from a few hundred dollars to many thousands, and so does what each one makes possible. Tell your Guide what you would like to spend and they will tell you what can be done. We set our fee to the work involved and show it to you to approve before anything is paid.

How do you make money?

We charge one flat fee for arranging your memorial, agreed before we begin. You pay providers, like a local who carries out a scattering or a maker who casts a plaque, directly and at their own price. We never handle that money and never add to it. If a provider offers us a discount or a commission, we pass it on to you. So our advice is never swayed by what we earn, because we earn the same flat fee no matter what you choose.

What does the price include?

Our fee covers the work we do: the research, the planning, finding and reaching the right people, the coordination, and staying with you until it is confirmed. The provider costs, the bench, the plot, the local's fee, are paid by you directly, and we show you every one of them before anything begins.

Is the first conversation really free?

Yes. We only charge once we have agreed a flat fee for specific work.

What we do, and what we do not

Do you handle the ashes?

No. We never take possession of remains. We do the research and connect you with a trusted local who carries out the scattering, and you stay in control throughout.

Do you install benches or cast plaques?

No. We find the right place, find out what is allowed, and introduce you to the people who supply, make, and place them. They do the work. We make sure you reach the right ones.

Do you do the paperwork and approvals?

We find out what is needed and who to ask, then connect you to the right office or owner. You make the arrangements directly, so nothing happens without you.

So what am I paying for?

The hard part: knowing where to look, what is possible, and who to trust. We find all of that and hand you the right people, ready to go. You pay them directly, and we never mark anything up.

Gift vouchers

Can I give Forever Places as a gift?

Yes. Vouchers are a thoughtful gift between families, and a meaningful one for hospices, funeral homes, and realtors who want to offer more than flowers or wine.

What happens to an unused voucher?

A code only locks once someone begins. Until then it can be passed to someone else, and anything left over recycles back to you.
